His documentaries “Andhar Periye” and “Nari” have received great appreciation both in the country and abroad. The documentary “Andhar Periye” is basically based on the life struggle of the people of an island village in Maheshkhali. The village is surrounded by salt water of the sea on all sides. The main challenge of the life of the people of this area is safe drinking water. And the documentary “Nari” depicts the life struggle of the women of a forbidden village in Kurigram. Where women are
victims of river erosion and struggle to break the chains of darkness and return to normal life.
Khandaker Ashraful Islam has worked in various national and
international NGOs for over 31 years in mid-to-high management positions. He has also written novels, poems and play scripts. His novels – Borkha, Goa-Kashi-Vrindavan and books of
poetry – Troye Ninanda and Saree Bhalo Rathna Hola. The
drama Biparit Kather Proclamation aired on Channel I. In addition, his articles on various topics have been published in the
form of columns in newspapers, online media and NGO websites.
